He has studied informatics and computer engineering at Tallinn University of Technology from 1992 to 1998. In the years 1998-2005, he studied at Linköping University’s doctoral program and worked in the Embedded Systems Lab there . He has improved himself since 1995 . in the TIMA Laboratory in Grenoble and in 1997 in the Fraunhofer Institute in Dresden .
From 2005, Gert Jervan worked at the Computer Engineering Institute of Tallinn University of Technology : first as a postdoctoral researcher (2005–2007) and then as a senior researcher (2007–2012). In 2012, he was elected professor of reliable computer systems at the digital engineering chair of the Institute of Computer Engineering at Tallinn University of Technology (2012–2017).
